Northwest Iowa Dairy Outlooks

A local discussion of current science and issues concerning dairying in northwest iowa

Since many fruit trees are coming into bloom, honeybees will be on the move. During the next few weeks homeowners may see swarms beginning to show up on there trees on around their house. Since there is a sevre shortage of homeybees, local bee keepers will pickup gentle honeybees free for the the honeybees.

It is against the law to destroy a warm of gentle honeybees as the are on the “endagered species” list and a fine of $500 will be imposed if you are caught killing or destroying a swarm of gentle honeybees.

Call 911 or the police department and report the address and location of the honeybees and they will call a beekeeper to remove them.

Anyone interested in honeybees is invited to the Red River Valley Beekeepers Association meeting on Tuesday, March 15 at 7 p.m. in room 209 of the Bolin Scince Hall on the Midwestern State University campus.
