May 7, 2011 Local Wheat Field Day Set For May 19
The annual Texas AgriLife Extension Service/ AgriPro Wheat Field Day will be held Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the AgriPro-Syngenta Research Location in Lockett, TX. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The tour will begin at 9:00 a.m. The Field Day will give producers a chance to view variety plots, and new research based information.
Dr. Brett Carver, Oklahoma State University Wheat Breeder, will start off the event discussing Oklahoma varieties. Dr. Todd Baughman, Texas AgriLife Extension Service Agronomist, will discuss Texas wheat varieties. Dr. David Worrall, Syngenta Seed, will discuss the forage variety strips. Rob Borchardt, Syngenta Seed, will discuss the Syngenta Wheat Acre. Dr. Tom Royer, Oklahoma State University Entomologist, will discuss the “Glance and Go Aphid Program.” Dr. Chris Sansone, Texas AgriLife Extension Service Entomologist, will be the noon time speaker discussing “Applying IPM Principals to Fungal Diseases.”
Texas and Oklahoma continuing education units will be offered at this event. Sponsors for the program include Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service, AgriPro Wheat, Syngenta Seed, Winfield Solutions, DuPont Crop Protection, and Bayer Crop Science.
