June 8, 2011 Ground-breaking Set For New Warm-up Arena At Bridwell Ag Center
On the birthday of the Pony Express in 1999 the Wichita Extension Horse Committee hosted a “Pony Express” reenactment. This event raised funds for a barn at the J. S. Bridwell Agricultural Center that would add to the utility of the facility for horse programs. The long trail those riders started is now coming to fruition. The Wichita Extension Horse Committee is pleased to announce that they are building a 70 X 150 covered warm-up arena and will be donating it to the City of Wichita Falls.
The ground-breaking for this construction will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2011. The public is cordially invited to participate in the ceremony. Members of the official “shovel team” include Texas Agrilife Extension officials plus Wichita County and Wichita Falls officials who will be moving the first dirt at the construction site.
The ceremony will include remarks by Extension, Wichita County and Wichita Falls officials plus Extension Horse Committee members will chronicle the trail from the Pony Express ride to this ground-breaking.
The building will be located just north of the current arena and allow access to the arena on the east end. The project is scheduled to be completed by August 1, 2011.
