On Friday, December 14 parents with children age 0-5 will have the opportunity to attend a free language development workshop at Washington-Jackson Elementary School from 5:30 to 8 pm. The school is located at 1300 Harding St. in Wichita Falls. Participants will enjoy a light meal before the workshop. In addition, there will be child care available.

A new study shows that chops and ground pork may be full of bad bacteria according to Consumer Reports. A whole host of food-borne illnesses is caused by these bacteria, such as stomach aches, vomiting, diarrhea, fever — and in the most extreme cases, even death.

A panel of chefs hosted by The Certified Angus Beef brand predicted 13 foodservice trends for 2013, including everything from strip steaks to “gourmet American junk and fair food.”

The panel represented a cross-section of individual restaurateurs, corporate chefs and academia who discussed observations over the past year, exchanged ideas and anticipated trends in the kitchen for the coming year.
