Northwest Iowa Dairy Outlooks

A local discussion of current science and issues concerning dairying in northwest iowa

The Wichita County Extension Horse Committee is sponsoring a four-part series for horse owners who want more information on the care and nutrition of their mares and foals begins on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. The first installment will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Multi Purpose Events Center in Wichita Falls.

The topic on Nov. 13 will be the care and nutrition of the pregnant mare. Kirk Chilson with Cargill Nutrition will be the featured speaker.

On Tuesday, December 11, Dr. Jered Harlan will present “Focus on Foaling Time”.

After the new year, on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, Dr. Tina Anderson, a nutritionist with Purina will cover the “Nutrition and Care of the Lactating Mare and Foal”.

The final program will be the “Care and Nutrition for the Breeding Mare”, presented by Jeff Butler, a nutritionist with ADM.

The registration for all four programs is only $20 or walk-in and pay $10 for each program at the door.

The series is sponsored by the Feed and Garden Store in Wichita Falls; Berend Bros. Farm Store, Wichita Falls and Holliday Feed & Farm Supply in Holliday. In addition, The Browse Shop will supply door prizes for each program.
