Northwest Iowa Dairy Outlooks

A local discussion of current science and issues concerning dairying in northwest iowa

This year’s Wichita County Pecan Show featured 19 entries from ten area growers and sent six samples to the regional show in Kerrville.

The Central Texas Regional Show was held on December 12, 2012 with 182 entries.

A single Wichita County win came on an entry from Jake Montz in the Mohawk class with a weight of 136.84 grams and 55.7 percent edible kernel.

Other samples from Wichita County included: a Nocono entry from Jake Montz; a Pawnee entry from Tom and Mary Golden; a Native entry from Mike and Jean Payne; a Native entry from Larry Hardin; and a lightest pecan entry from Sadie McWhorter.

The winning Mohawk entry from Montz will go on and compete in the Texas State Pecan Show on July 14-17, 2013 in College Station, at the Brazos County Expo Center.
