A local discussion of current science and issues concerning dairying in northwest iowa

The Road To Greatness Show Steer and Heifer Clinic is set for Saturday, April 9 in the Maverick Cattle Show Barn at 9831 Boat Club Road in Fort Worth. The program will start at 10 a.m. includes a free lunch and will finish by 2 p.m.

“Whether this will be your first year or your last year, the presenters will help you understand your project and be a better showman,” says the new Tarrant County Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension Agent Fred M. Hall.

Todd Vineyard, Wise County Extension agent will start the day giving an overview on selecting the right calf; on that will grow into a blue-ribbon project.

Dr. Kelly Warner will review the veterinary client relationship and focus on the little things in management that keep projects healthy and growing.

After a barbeque lunch provided by Sure Coat Solutions, Gina Bagby with Purina will walk those attending through the topic of animal nutrition– from basic nutrition to the use of additives and supplements.

4-Hers and FFA members plus the parents are invited to attend. There is no fee, but registration is required for the meal count. In addition, there will be youth livestock committee members available to collect tag orders for the upcoming year.
